Sydney Pinney brought these precious pearls of summer to Honeywood this week.

By Chef Josh Smouse

July and early August have been just as generous as the months that proceeded them. Squash, tomatoes, corn, melons, cucumbers, eggplant, beans and all the things I am failing to remember, beautiful, abundant and delicious! There was a point two weeks ago when I couldn’t imagine a time without way too much squash.

At Honeywood, we are cherishing the summer season and featuring as much local product as possible and in any combination we can think of. My current favorite is the varieties of tomatoes, from Three Springs, Thistle’s End Farm, Happy Jack’s Pumpkin Farm and Sydney Pinner. Every year, there seem to be more and more varieties introduced into the market and they are universally fantastic in their own way. We are featuring tomatoes in three iterations and eagerly looking for more.

Enjoy! Winter is coming!
